“ Made it to their first day with happy hour! Tasty bites and drinks at an affordable price. The tarte aux oignons is particularly delicious. We got there at 5pm and it was very quick to be seated; there was a wait line closer to 6pm. Note that HH is only available at the bar and high top tables inside, and the patio/sidewalk tables outside. A big thank you to the hostess Sicily and the Wormwood staff for the utmost help in making sure that my group was comfortable at a table outside with my 2-year-old niece. Their customer service is some of the best you’ll find in the San Diego restaurant industry. ”

“ One of the best tasting menu experience that I have had in a while. Except for omakases, tasting menus have been not appealing to me due to lack of creativity and laziness and misuse of products (why are you hashing quality duck and lamb?!). Wormwood impressed me and it was a great experience from the food, service, wine list and the outside decor. I loved that they concentrated on the important things like the quality of the food and expressing the chefs creative vision and providing the excellent service. We did the celebratory tasting menu and all the appetizers were truly amazing. Especially the palomar oysters, buckwheat madeleine with cavier, and reimagination of the french onion soup as a savory tart stood out. Truly memorable. The steak entree was good and perfectly medium rare, however not imaginative. The sauce for the fish was too salty but the actual cooking of the sole was good. I can see that the chef tried to be creative sticking to french influence/roots. However Latin and Southeast Asian restaurants have been doing amazing things with fish that just blows your mind. Additionally, after the superb appetizers, the entree menu in creativity fell a bit short. The wine list was great. Whoever curated this had everything from trendy to traditional and made this list with a lot of care. Again, the service was close to perfection from our busser, waitress, hostess and the kitchen staff that brought out the dishes and explained with detail about the dish showed great team work. Their service and passion showed how much they enjoyed working for this chef and manager/owner of the restaurant. ”

I came here for a party in the secret garden and we had our own bathroom and bartenders and every single drink was incredible, The Bombardier, the Sun King, and even the old fashions we ordered with simple syrup were super smooth. Our friends ordered breakfast drinks with a hint of coffee, which were AMAZING. I will be bringing my wife back here for dinner. ”
